Star Quest 2010 begins

The annual talent hunt competition organized by Nigerian Breweries- Star Quest will take off this month. The reality show produced the making Pulse Band which won the competition last year with over 99,000 public votes.
However, unlike previous years and as with last year, online registration would not be required for participation and auditioning in this year’s Star Quest. Auditions for the Quest would begin at Channel View Hotel Calabar on February 10th to 11th, Riez Continental Hotel, Business District, Abuja and Imo Concord Hotel, Owerri on February 13th to 14th, Adebola House, Opebi Lagos and Excalibur Hotel, GRA, Benin City will host the auditions on February 16th to 18th .The winning band will go home with 7.5 million naira recording contract, 3.6 million naira cash, a mini van and one year guaranteed accommodation in Lagos. In addition, the winning band will also participate in the upcoming 2010 Star-sponsored events as performing artistes.

As usual, entry into the STAR QUEST is FREE and Entry is open to individuals between the ages of 21-30 years. To qualify, applicants must posses demonstrable proficiency in at least one vital area of music; instrumentation, vocals, or song writing. 36 finalists will be drawn from six zones pan-Nigeria and assembled at the Star Fame land, for a period of 4 weeks. During this period, the contestants will mingle, interact and bond with each other and then group themselves into 6 distinct bands. Each band would be made up of individuals with different musical skills. These 6 bands will be expected to create and produce their own original music on which basis they will be evaluated by the viewing public. The 6 bands will contest against each other and 3 bands will be eliminated in the first elimination round. The entire process will be fully broadcast on national television and elimination will be decided by public voting via SMS. The 3 remaining bands will
then move on to the national final. The grand finale event will be broadcast live on Saturday, 3rd April, 2010 and the winning band will again be decided 100% by live public voting via SMS. The success and excitement of STAR QUEST has resulted to the emergence of musical talents like KC Presh, D’Accord, D’Jewels, Diamonds, and The Pulse.
