The organizers of the Soundcity Music Video Awards (SMVA) have commenced plans for this year’s awards ceremony. They revealed the date for this year’s award as Friday October Ist, 2010. This simply means we will be celebrating three music video awards in same month. The new date falls into the calendar of Channel O Music Video Awards and Nigeria Music Video Awards (NMVA).
They revealed the venue of the event as the new Exhibition Hall of Eko Hotel & Suites, Lagos. What will however be different in this year’s event is the Winners Concert which will take place immediately after the awards.
The organizers re-iterated that they are committed to the recognition of the efforts of artistes, video producers and directors, whose strengths and abilities have been able to put Nigerian and African music videos on a global pedestal.
The executive producer of the awards- Tajudeen Adepetu says “Soundcity looks forward to taking this year’s SMVA even beyond the Soundcity pedigree of first class entertainment, and the best of recognition and rewards, one that not many will hurriedly forget in the history of Nigerian entertainment”.
Soundcity is a 24-hour urban lifestyle channel, depicted all the time with music videos, lifestyle content and interactive programming that is influenced by the viewers. It is Nigeria ’s premier medium that represents a repertoire of encompassing music videos
Activities kick-starting the 2010 edition of the Soundcity Music Video Awards are to be announced soon.
