THE RAP GOSPEL ACCCORDING TO OBJAZZ

Rap music in Nigeria has definitely changed from what it used to be some few years back. It is now an established fact in Nigeria that a rap artiste can be commercially accepted. Objazz is one of the most likely rappers to take over the rap game soon.
Born Obinna Eze – Ajoku in Yaba Town of Lagos State, Objazz grew up in Festac Town listening to a lot of Hip-hop acts such as Nas, The Fugees, Redman, T-Bone and others while also listening to Jazz recordings of Kirk Whalum, George Benson and Victor Wooten. A combination of the effects of these extremes is responsible for all the sound in-between that has become Objazz’s trademark.
As if the industry is about to start reckoning with him, he was adjudged the best artiste of the week on Inspiration FM in Lagos last week. This is not a mean feat considering the caliber of artistes that have been pronounced the best artiste of the week in the past. This has definitely exposed his songs to more radio listeners because his songs were the most played on air last week on the station with an interview to cap it all.
Before his latest single, One More Chance, he had released other songs like Mass Hysteria, Keep Running, Gbasibe and Carry Go. One More Chance was released in August 2009 and has been getting heavy rotation both locally and internationally including online radio stations. It’s another motivational track that clearly revealed the versatility of the artiste in rap music. His self-titled album that will soon be released features vocal samples from Sly n Robbie, Bob Marley and some patois chants.
Objazz has performed on different stages with the likes of D’banj, P Square, Timaya, 9ice, Styl-Plus and many other popular Nigerian acts. He had also served as keyboardist and bass guitarist for live performances of various artists. His performances indeed are a site to behold due to his excellent stagecrafts. Objazz is signed to ‘Wavehouse Recordings’.
