Nollywood Convenes


Come December 6th, 2009, something spectacular will happen in the Nollywood industry, which will bring all the stakeholders together. It is the first edition of the Best of Nollywood Awards (BON).
The awards ceremony, which is intended to reward excellence in the make believe world comprise 25 categories which include, Movie Journalist of the Year, Television Personality of the Year, Indigenous Yoruba Movie of the Year, English Actor of the Year, Picture of the Year, Movie of the Year, Indigenous Actor of the Year, Director of the Year, Film Editor of the Year, Movie of the Year, Comedy Movie of the Year, Marketer of the Year, among others.
The movie world is already agog with a beehive of activities and acceptance by movie practitioners is unprecedented. Already they have decided to shine and make the day quite a memorable one for all and sundry. Headlining the much-expected Best Of Nollywood Awards 2009 are top actors like Mercy Johnson, Nonso Diobi, Dele Odule, Olu Jacobs, Segun Ologbe, and Nse Etim.
Mike Ezunronye, Yemi Blaq, Ramsey Nouah, Ricardo Agbor and Clem Ohameze are up for the contest of who becomes the first BON English actor of the year as Olu Jacobs, Dele Odule, Femi Adebayo, Saheed Balogun, Funke Akindele, Iyabo Ojo, Mercy Aigbe, Bukky Wright and Doris Simeon Ademinokan would all be keenly battling for the BON’s indigenous actor of the year and actress of the year respectively.
Movies like Omo Iya Kan, Owo Okuta, Bamitale, Bolode Oku, Abegbe, Reloaded, Distance in between, Black Friday, When the heart lies and Sunshine have been penciled to shine with one awards or the other
Upwardly mobile dude and publisher of Best of Nollywood Magazine, Seun Oloketuyi, who is the executive producer of the award stressed that the award was long overdue and several actors have been clamoring for an award that would strictly cater for the practitioners with a little token or gift aside the plaques.
A pre awards/nominees party scheduled for November 20th would herald the award, which is to make its debut on Saturday, December 6, 2009. Quartar Airline, Skye Bank, Unilever and Ogun State Government had declared their support for the award
